Adopt-a-Trail Program
RWTAG participates in Parks & Trails New York's Adopt-a-Trail program, a statewide volunteer effort that supports stewardship of the Canalway Trail. Through this program, RWTAG helps care for local trail segments in Rome by coordinating volunteers who keep trails clean, safe, and welcoming.
How It Works
Volunteers support RWTAG's Adopt-a-Trail responsibilities through light, hands-on maintenance like litter pickup, trimming vegetation, clearing small debris, checking signage, and reporting larger issues. No special skills are needed — just a willingness to spend time outdoors and help maintain Rome's trails. Volunteers can help on their own schedule or during group workdays.
Get Involved
If you enjoy Rome's trails and want to give back, consider helping with our Adopt-a-Trail efforts. You can learn more about the statewide program on PTNY's website here and contact RWTAG or attend a meeting to get involved locally. Even small contributions help keep Rome's trails in great shape!
